So, I thought I would update you guys on what I have read in 2017 so far. I haven’t read as much as I wanted so far because I have been busy working on my dissertation.
I am doing my dissertation on the representation of trauma within Gillian Flynn’s novels, so I have been reading a lot about crime fiction. Oh yeah…that means I get to write 10,000 words on my love for Gillian Flynn and look at her novels: Sharp Objects, Dark Places and Gone Girl.
Dissertation Books-
- Adult Children: The Secrets of Dysfunctional Families by John C. Friel

- The Cambridge Companion to Crime Fiction by Martin Priestman

Do you read nonfiction very often?
I really enjoy it because it allows me to learn the lessons that successful people learned the hard way, from the comfort of where ever I might be reading.
If you are interested in the nonfiction I have been reading, or if you want to know what the benefits are from reading this genre in specific, please stop by my page. I post book reviews over biographies, classics, and inspiring nonfiction.

I’ve recently read my first graphic novel on the recommendation of a friend, it is called Maus and is outstanding, I’m currently halfway through my second, From Hell, which is also a superb book. It’s great to discover new things to read!

I liked Scrappy Little Nobody! (I’m not gonna pretend I’m educated enough to have read any of the other books you mentioned. Haha!)

I really liked it, it was really refreshing to read. Haha I really wish I didn’t have to read them all, but my dissertation is demanding a lot of research ๐

We love Gillian Flynn! Her novels themselves are traumatic. They’re so full of characters who’ve experienced or inflicted trauma and psychological pain. What are you earning your PhD in?
We’re a newly launched blog with philanthropic aspirations. We just published a review of Sharp Objects as well. Check it out at https://thepaperbackpost.com/2017/04/01/sharp-objects-book-review/
