Hello lovelies,
I need some help. I need you to leave me some book recommendations in the comments below!! Myself and my university friends are planing on starting a book club and I need some great book titles to suggest.
What have you read recently?
Also don’t forget to go and check out my Instagram or ‘bookstagram’ over at book_captivation.
I’m doing kinda a mock book club in my class and these are the books we are reading/have read: The Storied Life of A.J. Fikry, The No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, Angels Burning, Watchmen, The Salt House, All the Light We Cannot See, Lilac Girls, & Ready Player One.
I would also recommend checking out publisher websites because they usually have discussion questions for their books 🙂

We read The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Society my Mary Ann Shaffer in my book club, and we all liked it. Also, Funny Girl by Nick Hornby, Assassination Vacation by Sarah Vowell, and Fan Girl by Rainbow Rowell.

You’re welcome! And I just noticed I got the title wrong.. It should be The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. I left the pie out the first time. 🙂

Uprooted is a pretty good fantasy read for a book club. (Not sure what genre you’re leaning towards.) The book club I used to be in read The Night Circus and everyone loved it…except me, haha.

What about the Night Circus didn’t you liked? That sounds really good! Thank you!

I didn’t hate it, but I just felt like it had too many flaws. I thought the magic system and rules surrounding magic were poorly explained. As someone who likes to read epic fantasy, I wanted more detail and structure. The imagery was beautiful though.

I’m not sure if you’ll be able to source it, but Spud by John Van De Ruit is a really great coming of age kind of story, funny and yet still so deep…

Ooh good (but hard) question. Shadow of the Wind is great for book lovers everywhere if you haven’t read it 🙂 Also Man’s Search for Meaning if you’re looking for something short but really deep. If you’re going for fantasy, then Neil Gaiman’s will give you plenty to talk about 🙂 Also A Thousand Splendid Suns or Kite Runner would probably work for a book club if you’ve not read them. Hope that helps!

I loved the book, Chains, by Laurie Halse Anderson. It’s a really great book and I think it would be great of your looking for suspense, a good lesson for literature, or Biblical viewpoints. There are a few other books in the series, and I couldn’t stop reading till the entire series was over! I’m actually doing a book club for it right now. Check out my blog sometime!
