BOOK HANGOVER?

Have you ever suffered from a book hangover? I know I sure have.

download (2)

I few things I do when I have finished a book:

  • Become soo obsessed with the beautiful writing that you have to order EVERY other book the author has written.
  • After seriously looking a book I roam the internet for hours trying to find fandom communities for that book.
  • Long for a movie adaptation of the book and hope it is perfect.
  • Having a countdown on my phone until the release date of the book.
  • Although I am grateful for the book, I wish I could return back time and read it again. I envy those who have yet to discover the brilliance of the authors and narratives.
  • I force my friends to read the books so we can ‘fangirl’ together or have a debate.
  • Get obsessed with the characters within the books and the actor/actresses playing them in the film adaptation.
  • I realise I cannot completely escape within the novel, which makes reality suck.
  • I realise I will never get a boyfriends with all the qualities of my favourite boy characters.
  • I panic that I will never find another book that will fill my life with such joy
  • I become Matilda
  • I start to use book slang such a ‘Muggles’
  • I ponder how I will use my new vocabulary I learnt while reading the book in everyday life.

Have you ever felt any of those feelings after reading a book? Or anything else … please let me know in the comments below.

MY INNER CHID IS LOVING LIFE.

9400443.gif

I AM A HUGE FANGIRL. I love being captivated by books and joining fandoms, I adore that shared feeling of excitement between fellow fandom lovers.

Throughout my teenage years, two series in particular struck me and made me fall deeply in love with them.  The first being The Harry Potter series by J.K.Rowling and the other being The Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer. I know it sound crazy but these books really helped me throughout my adolescence, Bella helped accept myself. I finally understood that it was okay to be awkward and it was okay to quirky. You don’t need societies acceptance to be happy.  I could easily go on a gushing rant about my admiration for J.K.Rowling and Stephenie Meyer but I won’t…but seriously, if you share my love for them…comment below and we can hardcore fangirl together.

So, now that you have a slight glimpse into my obsession with Twilight and Harry Potter you can understand why 2016 is such an important year for me, with regards to books. 2016 saw the release of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, I have seen the play (saw it on the 28th and 29th of June) and the screenplay will be released in 11 days. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH my brain cannot comprehend how excited I am.

img_1840

and…GUESS WHAT???? Stephenie is also releasing a new book. I know she released the mixed gender twilight recently for the 10 year anniversary , but this is different. This is new, exciting and intriguing. 14 year old me is jumping up and down screaming with joy. Actually, who am I kidding…20 year old me is bubbling with excitement.  When I saw Shannon’s retweet of the news, I texted my best friend Emma like a million times because we loved Twilight together. Twilight is actually one of the main reasons we became friends and together we obsessed over them.

top-5-wednesday-22

  1. Louisa Clark from Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. Firstly go and check out my review for this book. Here.

tumblr_o231muo9tn1u2ursyo5_r1_500 (1)

Louisa, Louisa, Louisa. My spirit animal. I hope I come across like her;she is quirky, fun and kind. It has been a while since I have actually picked up a book and finished  it in  one sitting and fallen madly in love with the protagonist. I connected so much with this book and am counting down the days till I get to see it in the cinema.

2. Hermione Granger- Harry Potter-  My childhood best friend.

Tdcw9TW.gif

The girl who taught me to be myself. She is amazing…end of.  Like her, I love to study and lose myself in books.

3. For anyone that actually knows me, would have expected this one to be at the top because of how obsessed I was as a teenager. Bella Swan – Twilight Sage.

tumblr_lzxbezbCSo1r4kfic.gif

She taught me to accept my introvert ways and that it was okay not to fit in.  I like to think I am loyal like Bella and protective like her. I am also super awkward like her, so yay me.  I always found her to be sarcastic and I can totally relate to that.

4. Cath Avery – Fangirl.

fangirl-button2-1.png I am just a total fangirl, about a lot of stuff in my life. I cannot just like something like a normal person, I become obsessed. She is also sensitive and kind which I could relate to.

5. I am saying this one because in freshers week at University, someone told me I was just like her. Karen from Outnumbered. (The TV show)

tumblr_inline_mw1zvwaIJM1rqfstq

Hahaha, I am going to take it as a compliment. Sometimes in my life, I adopt a f*** it attitude and act like I don’t care. I am also a very to the point and honest person when it comes to my friends and family, so if I am up front with you, it is because I care.

The Frozen Book Tag..

frozenbooktag

I was tagged by the awesome blog- THE BOOK DETECTIVE to do the Frozen book tag.  I have not done a book tag yet, so this is super exciting (I am also currently procrastinating from writing my essay, I have become an awful student)

96781-Disney-Frozen-Anna-excited-gif-e02O
So without further ado, here it is…

1.Frozen heart… beautiful! Powerful! Dangerous! Cold! What character do you think of when you hear this description?

I instantly thought of Tom Riddle from the HARRY POTTER  (series) by J.K.Rowling  due to how enigmatic his character is and because Harry Potter was such a major part of my childhood, whenever I think of a villain within a series , Voldemort always pops into my mind.  He was beautiful before dark magic took over him.

Do You Want To Build a Snowman?A character you want to build a snowman with…

I would choose Cather from FANGIRL by Rainbow Rowell  because not only could build a snowman, we could also suddenly stop and take part in an emergency dance party.  Which would be super fun, right? We would also be able to discuss our love  for books and fictional characters. I choose her because I feel like we would have a lot in common.

For the first time in forever…  You haven’t been able to read anything in a long time and your TBR pile has been growing larger and larger. What book (of your TBR pile, so no rereads) would you pick?

I would choose I AM THE MESSENGER by Markus Zusak, I am extremely excited to read this because his writing is just exquisite. If you have not read The Book Thief by him yet, you need to because it is incredible, definitely one of those books that stays with you after you have finished it. The Book Thief will also hold a special place within my heart because my favourite English teacher recommended it me and I would pop in a speak to her about books if I walked past her classroom.   I am the Messenger has a 4.1 rating out of 5 on Goodreads (click link to see)  which is encouraging…  .  I just hope it doesn’t disappoint.

Love is an open door… With what book or which character (or both!) would love be an open door with it? Or for what book/which character would you close the door?

Character…umm don’t kill me okay but I would have to say Edward Cullen from Twilight because for twelve year old me he was the eptiome of attractiveness and kindness.  I always saw  his love with Bella as irrevocable which meant a lot me.

or Augustus Waters from TFIOS, I have still not recovered from this book…

Books wise…all of them? okay, if I have to choose one I would say all of the Harry Potter Books. I do not even think I have to explain this…

I do not know what I would choose to close the door…

Let it go…A book or book series you used to love but you let it go.

I would have to stem of my last answer, for years Twilight took over my life and although it still holds a place within my heart I had to let it go. This gave me the freedom to fully appreciate more books so I am glad.

tumblr_mx5anoNuNE1sc6j2oo2_250

Reindeers Books Are Better Than People… Let’s say you’re tired of people today. What book would you rather spend the day with?

I would choose The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath, The Perks of being a Wallflower or The Fault in Our Stars because both of these are more than just books to me, they connected with me on a deeper level that I thought possible. Although they broke me, the captivating words also changed me and made me appreciate life.

In summer… A book perfect for summer

Umm  ANYTHING, this summer I will be reading anything and everything I can get my hands on.

tumblr_my8ev9XygV1rbp7sqo3_250

Fixer Upper… A book that’s a bit of a fixer-upper and should be fixed with a little bit of love ?

I would have to say Girl Online by Zoe Sugg, I have watched Zoella on Youtube now for years and I probably hyped this up to myself too much. Perhaps  fourteen year old Shan would have preferred it,  nineteen year me just wanted more, I really like her blog but this book was just lacking something, As harsh as it sounds, maybe it was originality.

Thank you for reading, I tag everyone who reads this and wants to give it go…
